Retirement...and PARTY

So, after all this time......my Dad finally retired....and had a HUGE retirement party!
EPIC, best explains it....a whole weekend affair!

(I really wish we would have gotten pictures when we were all dressed up) :-(

It was a great time with so many friends and family!

For dessert, I ended up making these yummie "Eagle" cookie/snacks that I found on Pintrest
They were way more time consuming then I had planned, but boy were they good. The tutorial I read was
not very good....and I ended up using Icing rather then White Chocolate.
 (Refrigerate after rolling in coconut)
I also used raisins for the eyes and cut a slit in the "nose" area with scissors for a better hold of the cashew.

All and all, it was a great weekend....and I am happy to have my Dad...
permanently at home with no more deployments!

Sunday Distraction

While I should be at the pool relaxing in the cool water,
I am stuck at home writing a 6 page
English essay on, an instance where I have been discriminated against.
It is a blast! hah Not!
So I though before I started, I would post some pictures
of some of the hats I have been making!

They are so fun to make, and even better as gifts!
I am going to start selling them for $7.....ya, you heard me right
1 for $7 and 2 for $12

Have a good Sunday!!

Happy Friday

Peanut Butter Cookie Time!!

So instead of studying and doing endless amounts of homework,

I made  "Easy Peanut Butter Cookies"

My sister made a special request for....super chunky (Not my fav)
and of course I made my regular, non chunky cookies.

All you need is:

1 Cup Peanut butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
Bake at 350 for about 10 min
(Cookies will be a tender...let then sit on baking sheet for 3 min)

TADA! Yumm!

No Friday could be complete without
a little lovin' from my nephew Acen

Have a good weekend!!

Wednesday Love with S5

Life as I know it has became super busy all of a sudden!
I finally sat down and made going back to school a priority.....
The husband and I decided it was time to "try" for a baby...
My sister Shaunntae had a baby.....
and  now every Wednesday and Friday I watch my nephew Acen!

Needless to say, the artsy fartsy stuff has been put on hold.

So here is a pictorial update of the last few months!

                                               Took a vacation to Tennessee
Had a family reunion and attended my dad's
30th High School reunion

My Dad Retired From the Marine Corps After 30 Years

My nephew, Kailen was hit by a motorcycle while riding his bike
(thankfully he is now recovering)

 and I started making hats!
Hopefully the fun will  not stop there!

I have a few more projects to start, finish and post.....

30 years of service!!

My dad and I on My Wedding Day
It has been a long 24.5 years
of being a Marine Corps brat,
but an even longer 30 years
of service to the Marine Corps
for my favorite
Master Gunnery Sergeant.
If you have not guessed who this is
It is none other then my Dad!!

In preparation for his weekend long
retirement festivities,
I decided to make a bunting banner
I call it "Semper Fi"

It is in its final stages, but not yet 100% completed

I started off using my sewing machine

but

I decided that my hot glue gun would be faster.

(This Singer was my Nana's)

All the materials that I used , I already owned.

1) Holey pair of my husbands jeans

2) Pair of blue Dickie Shorts missing a clasp (Hubby's as well ;-) he is such a giver)

3) White and red shirts he no longer wears

The rest was pretty much up to my imagination.

A ton of ripping, cutting and gluing and it turned out great.
All that is missing is some good ol' country rope. (Still on the hunt)

SO this is how the panels turned out...
not bad for a pair of old
jeans, shorts and some t-shirts!

Photo's of the finished project coming soon!

Catch up? I think so!!!

To say I have fallen on the face of the Earth, would be an understatement.

I have been busy with work, took a vacation and of course the ends and outs of everyday life and the unexpected moments of that.

Hopefully I will be able to catch up with the time I have been away

(as I type this at work)

I will have a few projects soon.
