Happy birthday

Today was filled with tons of baking! My wonderful little nephew Christian turned 14 today.....though his birthday cake we were trying to make didn't turn out very well.....( my sister and I tried to make a pair of jeans and converse) the kit-cat and M&ms turned out amazing. It is almost to pretty to eat.... It was so simple too....

2 round cakes made from 1box cake
(or whatever recipe you like)

1 bag m&ms

1 snack pack kit kats

Ice the top of 1 cake then place the other one on top...then ice the sides and the top of the cake you just placed on top. The Key is to make the cakes no taller then the kit kats.....they should reach over the edge....and then you would fill the space with the M&ms...

Of course Acen and Shaunndra were there to help....so Acen ate his snacks (like the dogs) while we baked.....and had a ton of the left over cake from our trial cake....made for
His brother!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

I celebrated at my eldest sister, Shaunna's home and later in the evening at my other older sister, Shaunndra's. Lots of turkey, lots of pie!!

What was suppose to be the weekend I moved, sadly turned in to 5-7 more days of waiting....**cross your finger*** we can move this Tuesday!!!!

But, it has still been a great time with great people!!!

Oh, and did I mention....my sister and3 nephews braved black Friday at Walmart.....thus having to cram my poor nephews in the backseat/trunk of my car.....real safe!!!! I know!!! But the loot we got for Christmas was worth it!!!

Happy Sunday

Hope you enjoyed your weekend.......

Mine was spent studying and packing for the greater part of the weeekend

but I did manage to fit some baking in and of course the dreaded laundry!! ;-)

Here are the cupcakes I made for Halloween!! They were so yummy!!

You will need:

1. Yogurt covered pretzels (4 per cupcake)
2. Large Marsh mellows (1 per cupcake)
3. Tooth picks...although the directions I had were for lollipop sticks
(Probably would be easier with lollipop sticks)
4. Black frosting or decorative pen
5.PATIENCE!!
6. and of course your fav recipe for cupcake mix or box

These were messier then I thought and I had to put them in the fridge to keep them from falling apart
(if you dipped them in white chocolateafter you place them on the stick.....
I am sure they would stick better....but I only had regular white frosting)

Here is the tutorial I found on my fav site....Pinterest

The before photos

As I said in my earlier post....ya...I am playing catch up

We are MOVING TO A HOUSE! Yay!

Two years ago this year....we walked away from our home

in to a 2 bedroom apt....and then in to a 1 bedroom apt

to say it has been cramped is an undertstatment....

but now....I will live lavishly in 1700 sqft!

Our former house was not even that big

and though we are only renting.....I am over the moon!!!

Since we have not moved yet....these are preliminary photos

taken with my Iphone camera....so you get the jist...

I am so excited to decorate and get situated...and PAINT.....
this place needs a loving paint brush to re-dress those hideous walls!

Keep your eyes out for my major makeover post...over time of course!!! ;-)

Craziness and a little moving!

I feel like I have fallen off the face of the earth

between school, work and life....my crafting and free time has fallen to the way side.

With all of that, the hubby and I are moving.......

and though we have been planning to move

for the past nine months, we finally found a place and have 2 weeks

to pack and move everything!

Fortunately, we have amazing friends and family who will lighten that stress by helping!

These pictures are long over due: but these are the chalkboard wall that the hubby and I

and friend Ed painted at my parents house!

(I wish I had my camera to photograph the paint process)

We used the chalkboard wall as our guestbook for my Dad's retirement party
and of course had a traditional and more permanent mode, as well
The paint dried quickly and for a seemingly white wall, it only took 2 coats.

This made us all want to chalkboard paint on everything....
.and I do have a table I have been thinking of giving the treatment to.....
After the paint was completely dry, I found the great tutorial on transferring the perfect chalk text on Pinterest.

(If you haven't made it to this site yet......your missing out!!!!)

It was very simple and easy....

Word to the wise...take a few breaks, your hands get sore and tired quickly! ;-)

The other project I did to share with our guest, was a photo collage....

If you haven't guessed it, my parents are county Chic!

and a little redneck (My dad, lol)

SO to incorporate all that....

I found some pallets (Already had a few)
Hammered a nail on either side, and hung some twine.....adding small clothes pins (found at walmart)

and clipped some oldie but goodie photo's of my favorite Marine!
It was so much fun sifting through all his old pictures....some I bet he wished didn't make it out

and I am sure he is glad we were unable to find his Marine Corps Lifeguard photo....

still M.I.A.

Happy Birthday!

You have been such an amazing father and role model......

I can only hope to be as great of a parent as you are one day!

Retirement...and PARTY

So, after all this time......my Dad finally retired....and had a HUGE retirement party!
EPIC, best explains it....a whole weekend affair!

(I really wish we would have gotten pictures when we were all dressed up) :-(

It was a great time with so many friends and family!

For dessert, I ended up making these yummie "Eagle" cookie/snacks that I found on Pintrest
They were way more time consuming then I had planned, but boy were they good. The tutorial I read was
not very good....and I ended up using Icing rather then White Chocolate.
 (Refrigerate after rolling in coconut)
I also used raisins for the eyes and cut a slit in the "nose" area with scissors for a better hold of the cashew.

All and all, it was a great weekend....and I am happy to have my Dad...
permanently at home with no more deployments!

Sunday Distraction

While I should be at the pool relaxing in the cool water,
I am stuck at home writing a 6 page
English essay on, an instance where I have been discriminated against.
It is a blast! hah Not!
So I though before I started, I would post some pictures
of some of the hats I have been making!

They are so fun to make, and even better as gifts!
I am going to start selling them for $7.....ya, you heard me right
1 for $7 and 2 for $12

Have a good Sunday!!
